Suminoe Shuzo Sake Brewery
Ishinomaki in Miyagi Prefecture prospered as a port at the mouth of the Kitakami River from the time of the feudal lord Date Masamune and developed as a center for the distribution of rice and seafood. It is a town rich in water greenery and history. Situated on the western bank of the Kitakami River Suminoe Shrine now known as Sumiyoshi Shrine has long been revered as a deity that governs water. With this deep connection the Suminoe sake brewery was founded in 1845 in the Suminoe district. For more than 170 years Suminoe named after the god of water has been nurtured by tradition the local climate of Ishinomaki and the sincere spirit of its people. In sake brewing all employees work together with the goal of creating sake that is clean soft and elegant in character with a rich and refined flavor.
