Brewery introduction
Suminoe Shuzo Sake Brewery
Located in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, a historic port town that flourished as a hub for rice and seafood trade since the era of Lord Date Masamune, "Suminoe" carries the rich legacy of water, greenery, and history. The brewery's name originates from Suminoe Shrine (now Sumiyoshi Shrine), long revered as a guardian deity of water on the western bank of the Kitakami River. Founded in 1845 in the town of Suminoe, the brewery has spent over 170 years crafting sake under the name of this divine protector of water-nurtured by Ishinomaki's natural beauty, traditions, and warm-hearted people. With this heritage in mind, our goal has always been to create sake that embodies purity, softness, and refined elegance. Every member of our team is dedicated to producing sake that reflects the serene character and gentle spirit of Ishinomaki.
