Brewery introduction
Kuroki Honten Co. Ltd.
Founded in 1885, Kuroki Honten has a long and distinguished history. The Kuroki family originally served as Shinto priests for generations, and the founder began brewing when he married into a family that owned a sake brewery. Today, the ingredients used in our shochu are cultivated by “Yomigaeru Daichi no Kai,” our own agricultural production company, and by contracted local farmers. We also practice a unique, sustainable farming cycle - transforming the shochu lees left after distillation into fertilizer, which is then used to enrich the fields where our raw materials are grown. Through this natural cycle, we strive to craft shochu with rich aroma and flavor - a spirit that can only be created in this land. Kuroki Honten continues to refine both its cultivation and production methods, taking on new challenges to further enhance quality and preserve the harmony between nature and craftsmanship.
