Mastering Ogawa Yeast

Founded in 1877 in the Yoshinuma district of Tsukuba City, overlooking Mount Tsukuba to the northeast, Urazato Sake Brewery is a long-established brewery with more than 140 years of history. The brewery was captivated by Ogawa Yeast, which was isolated by Meiri Shurui in Ibaraki Prefecture, and has devoted itself to crafting sake that brings out the full potential of this unique yeast.

The brand “Urazato,” created by sixth-generation brewer Chikara Urazato, embraces the theme of “mastering Ogawa Yeast.” Because this yeast is also connected to the origin of his own name, he pours his life as a brewer into pursuing the ideal expression of its character.

Moreover, the brewery is committed to using only ingredients from Ibaraki Prefecture—rice, water, and more—sharing the charm of its home region through its sake.
We invite you to enjoy this one-of-a-kind sake born from the passion and craftsmanship deeply rooted in Ibaraki.

Note: Meiri Shurui is a comprehensive alcoholic beverage manufacturer founded in the Edo period and headquartered in Ibaraki Prefecture.
