During the whisky boom of Japans period of rapid economic growth Cherry Whisky was released and gained popularity as a leading whisky from northern Japan.\nHowever the boom did not last and barrels filled with whisky were left to rest quietly deep inside the aging warehouses. As time passed these whiskies continued to mature patiently.\nIn 2014 the long rested whisky of Sasakawa Shuzo was finally released under the name Yamazakura. Given ample time to share its angels portion the whisky matured gracefully and transformed into a rich amber spirit bringing joy to those who tasted it.\nIn the winter of 2016 a historic brewery relocated from the original site was reborn as the Asaka Distillery.
